Cooler Often, Darker Sooner!

Are you beginning to think about .  .  .  .  . toques, socks, mitts, and scarves? No wonder! The cool Calgary evenings herald the changing season.

And, as the sun sets ever-earlier the yarn that comes to our minds is 'Lumio Fine' - the yarn with the reflective strand that makes you super-visible, even in the dark! Lots of colours to choose from!

We have SCADS of other new yarns in that are toque-perfect, too!

  • From Skacel: check out our 'Helix'
  • From Stylecraft - 'Swift-Knit Super Chunky'
  • Estelle's - 'Drake', 'Hudson', and 'Morgana'
  • From Schachenmayr, Bravo Big Color, Bravo Big, Lova Fan (it's fun!), Boston Mix, and of course, 'Lumio Fine'. It's like Lumio, only lighter weight. (see photo above)

Also, come see our new collection of sock yarns! Some beautiful bright new colours in Lang Jawoll and many kinds of Regia -  including 'My First Regia'; it's kid-sized - the perfect yarn for babies and children!

Outdoor Knitting starts TODAY!

UPCOMING CLASSES - call 403-288-1959

Crochet 101 is about to begin . .

Speaking of 'starts', we're happy to announce that our Beginner Crochet class is now up and running!  Commencing Monday, May 1 from7 - 9 pm, it runs for four consecutive weeks. Have you always wanted to learn the magic of creating a garment with a hook? You can learn to crochet in time to make use of all the lovely summer cottons that are arriving. Still two spots available! Call the shop to register.

Knitting 101 - Beginner Knitting

For this popular class, there is always a waiting list. But happily,  the four weeks go by quickly. So if you're interested in the NEXT session starting in June, now is the time to put your name down. You will complete three simple projects, and materials are included! Knitting 101 is F-U-N! It usually runs Tuesday evenings from 7 - 9 pm.

Knitting 201 - Advanced Beginner

The next session of Advanced Beginner is due to start in June. Some spots are still available. If you can knit, purl, cast on and off, increase and decrease, but are getting tired of making scarves, this may be the step you need to launch you into the next level.  Make an actual garment. Learn how to attack a pattern and give your knitting a polished appearance. Classes usually run Wednesday evenings from  7 - 9 pm. Call to reserve your spot.

Sock Class

Is always a popular choice - and knitters are continuing to sign up for it.  The next class is as yet unscheduled, but likely to start in June. Call to discuss if you need this class NOW, as there may be some Wednesday nights available in May, if interest is great.

Charity Knitting

Yes, we DO take donations of yarn, and always have a pretty good supply available FOR for charities and charity knitting. Summer time is a great time to start projects that can be used to donate to those less fortunate once the cold winter winds begin to blow. If you are a charity knitter with a project in mind, you are welcome to come and peruse the donated materials. If you are an organization requiring a lot of yarn, please call ahead.

Baby Toques

The push for red toques has begun! We are now accepting donations of baby toques for Calgary's yuletide preemies - FREE patterns and red yarn are available in the shop if you are interested in knitting toques for these babies.  We also accept other colours, of course!

Golf Season!
