Beginner Crochet - Starts Thursday, September 17!

Crocheting can be fun, quick, and easy to do! Let 'Dina show you how to master the basics as you learn how to make beautiful things, burning through that stash of yarn at lightning speed! Again, all materials are included, and you can register by phone or during your next visit.

To assure your place in one of our fun classes, don't delay! Call us 403-288-1959 or drop into the shop TODAY!

Speaking of class, you'll want to get your fingers into our  'CLASS' ic  SHADES - a new arrival,
in four glorious colours:
Pictured here from left to right,
"Pompidou", "Rainforest", "Jubilant" and "Midnight Ride".

Great for mitred squares or colourful striping, these luxurious worsted weight colours can also be substituted in to create a stunning backpack like the one below:

All this is not to say we've run out of summer weights and cottons. We still have lots to choose from, (see last blog post) and have just received another shipment of Modern Cotton, too.

Look forward to seeing you soon!

Are You "Cottoning On?"

You may have heard this idiomatic phrase used to describe how we relate to others or catch onto things. A very interesting and more complete description by Michael Quinion of how this term evolved to modern usage can be found here:

A Midsummer Night's Dream - Will it Come True?

How many times have you asked yourself, "Wouldn't it be nice to have a knitting shop of my very own?"  That could be a possibility for you now if you have some time, and a moderate amount of money to invest. The Knitting Room is a long-standing institution in Calgary, with a well-established clientele. But, the time has come for this proprietor to move on and enjoy her newly built home in Nova Scotia! Our lease in Crowchild Square shopping centre expires this fall.
Due to popular demand, we're reaching out into the community to seek out those who may be interested in picking up the torch and keeping this well-loved shop alive and thriving! If you've always dreamed of owning your own shop, this may be the opportunity you've been waiting for! Afraid to go it alone? Perhaps a partnership is something you'd like to consider.  Give us a call, we'll be happy to help you explore the possibilities!

What's new?

KNITTING BOWLS - Perfect for keeping that yarn untangled, and curtailing the tendency of balls to wander away! We have some gorgeous, newly arrived yarn bowls that will make an excellent gift - for yourself, or someone on your list. Come and check them out!
